Kandice N. Point-Du-Jour
This is the Artistic Director's 19th season with the Special Dance Company of Columbia High School. In December of 2017, she was the recipient of Community Lifestyle Award by the New Jersey Chapter of the National Black MBA Association Inc. She was awarded the 2014 Eastern District Dance Teacher of the Year by the American Alliance of Health, Recreation, and Dance (AAPHERD). in 2013, she received the NJ Dance Teacher of the Year award from NJAPHERD.
Kandice is dedicated to providing students with quality dance education in the public school system. She is devoted to inspiring students to connect dance to not only build technique, but to connect dance to their personal, cultural and social issues using dance history and choreography as a means to cultivate and refine personal expression.
She is a member of the National Dance Education Organization and currently a board member for Dance New Jersey. Kandice has performed at various theaters throughout the state and surrounding areas and a certified Pilates Instructor through Polestar Pilates. She continues her passion of teaching students and presenting workshops to other dance educators. Kandice holds a BFA in dance from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts.
