Kandice N. Point-Du-Jour
Kandice N. Point-Du-Jour is a dedicated dance educator at Columbia High school and Artistic director of the Special Dance Company for 21 years. Her mission has always been focused on providing students with a quality dance education within the public school system. She is devoted to inspiring students to not only build technique but to connect dance to their personal, cultural, and social issues using dance history and choreography as a means to cultivate and refine personal expression.
Mrs. Point-Du-Jour is the recipient of many awards, including the NJ Chapter of the National Black MBA Association's Community Lifestyle, the Eastern District Dance Teacher of the Year by the American Alliance of Health, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), as well as the NJAHPERD Dance Teacher of the Year award.
Mrs. Point- Du-Jour is the first cooperating teacher in the state of New Jersey for dance education, mentoring student teachers from Montclair State University and Rutgers University. She also is a mentor for the National Dance Education Organization Mentorship program to a new teacher in Minnesota. Kandice is also the founder and host of the Get the Point! Dance Podcast. This dance education podcast is focused on inspiring and educating through the lens of social justice & culturally relevant classrooms. Additionally, Mrs. Point-Du-Jour is a presenter for many state and national conferences and provides professional development to other educators in the field. She enjoys educating through consultant work and motivational speaking within various platforms.
