• Special Dance Company was founded in 1971 by a physical education and health teacher, Ms. Janet Hicks. She directed the company for 25 years.

• Tricia Benn a former Special Dance Company and Columbia graduate directed the company as a consultant alongside Toni Martinez for 3 years. 

​

• Mrs. Kandice N. Point-Du-Jour is honored to carry this legacy and cultivate each student as their own artist for the past 21 years. Under Mrs. Point-Du-Jour, the company has expanded into a full-time program and has birthed dance elective classes at CHS.
